Looks like Fox is getting ready for another Dragonball film. The studio, pleased with the films earnings in Asia, has decided to fast track the sequel for a 2010 release, at least according to Variety:
“20th Century Fox is fast tracking the sequel to it’s as yet seen hit “Dragonball Evolution”. The film, which has earned a collective $21M in 8 Asian markets over the last three weeks; reportedly half its initial budget, opens worldwide on April 10th.
Reborn, the illusive subtitle to the sequel, is based on the popular manga turned animated series created by Akira Toriyama. James Wong is set to direct from a script he penned. Stephen Chow is once again set to produce and the entire cast, including Justin Chatwin as the films iconic hero, and Chow Yun-Fat as his mentor, are set to return.
The studio is also looking to expand that roster and are currently courting Twilight star Robert Pattinson to play the films villain. The film is expected to begin principle photography in Montreal this July, with a tentitive release date of Spring 2010.“

Me? Just wanted to let things die down and take a little break from some of the news. I was getting pretty stressed out on some things. But things seem to be going in a good straight line for the movie even though from what I hear I shouldn’t get my hopes up to much, I’m going into the movie completely positive and look at it as a stand alone film as well as accept most of the changes of the story line. I plan on making a very long deep review (Which is exactly what it deserves) about the movie so you might look forward to that.

I understand, but I personally find the whole “I hate X because *random person/fangroup* keeps talking about it too much” is such a bullshit and judge-first-think-second way to avoid dealing with something. So what, if a large number of people are talking about something and you don’t like it? Why the hell should it affect you or make you judge it in any way, shape or form?
If I let Naruto’s popularity get to me (as I was watching some fansubs before it ever became licensed in the US) just because a load of kids and creepy adults latched onto it quickly then that’d be ridiculous and I’d be missing out on something I enjoy. Things like Naruto were made with the intention (as I see it) to be mainstream and hugely successful so for me, that’s fine.
I’d like to see examples though of people who got annoyed with other famous things that loads of others like, for instance all these comic-book-movies that keep coming out, like Watchmen and Spider-Man.
I personally don’t understand the big deal of Watchmen but that won’t stop me from wanting to see it.

I hate to admit it…
…and guys, trust me when i say i really hate to admit this…
…but Robert would make a very good “young” Vegeta if thats what they’re planning to do.

Wow you guys are STILL thinking that the next part would be a DBZ movie, even going so far as to try to make guesses or wishes who would be Vegeta and whatnot?

That is who we have now.
We’re not even done with DragonBall yet at this point as we have to showcase Piccolo Jr (the Piccolo everyone comes to love) in the next movie. Plus there’s Tien, Krillin, and some other characters to showcase. What about The Ox King, Chi-Chi’s dad?
It’s only the, ONLY then once that film releases that we can start realistically wishing for who can be what character.
I personally want them to find a reasonable solution to Raditz and his mountain of hair he has….Nappa shouldn’t be hard to cast and then there’s Vegeta; a very important character to play as Chatwin’s complete opposite.

he would make a crappy Vegeta, and he’s too tall at 6′0. Vegeta is supposed to be shorter than Goku at around 5′8 – 5′9. If anything he’d make a decent Raditz…..but honestly this is lazy casting at its finest. this is just another way to cash in big time since pattinson is the all the teenybopper rave thanks to that shitty twilight shit flick.

*****You are foolish to try and make people feel like they are stupid for suggesting choices for Vegeta. Chatwin even said the sequel will be more “intergalactic” thats Sayian saga my friend. Also he said it will go more DBZ than DB, so again, Sayian saga. Also people can have w/e guesses or wishes they want for Vegeta, he is kinda an important character to get right. My choice is Jonathan Rheyes Myers or Joquein Pheonix, they both have the “bad boy pretty boy” look that Vegeta requires. Also Rheyes has shown us some great things, like when he placed the King of England in that movie, he really seemed like an arrogant prince. Phoenix would obviously be the better choice and the best so far out of what every one has suggested mainly because he is the most gifted and proven actor out of the lot, but he’s in retirement and prob too high-budget for a dbz film.
James Macvoy(or w/e) is most certainly not proven in a role like Vegeta’s. Even in “Wanted” he wasnt a bad ass or prideful arrogance, he was too smilily and happy, even during his action sequences, honestly hes more of a Goku actor than Vegeta.*****

*****No, not really. People have been wishing for certain actors to play certain characters for years now, WAY before the film was even announced. Go to youtube and look at people’s choices for many different things, people are giving their choices for actors to play comic book characters, remakes of old moives, old TV shows being made into movies, books, plays, cartoons, video games, etc… Point is we DONT have to wait before we can start wishing for people to be characters.*****

*****Cant argue with the Raditz hair, I think perhaps just down to his middle or lower back will be long enough. As for Nappa, the best choice is clearly Nathan Jones over the more popular Goldberg. Why? Nappa is HUGE with a more pointed nose.
Goldberg is 6′ 3″
Nathan is 7′
Goldberg has a round nose
Nathan has a more pointed nose
They both have about same experience in films and Action films, however Nathan has FAR more experience in Martial arts flicks. He was in “Fearless” and “The Protector” and “Jackie Chan’s First Strike” Also Nathan is younger and more unknown so cheaper for budget, which is better for a role like Nappa’s since its simple and this way they can focus the budget on other things. Also BOTH started out in WWE Wrestling! Nathan alos weighs more and is bulkier/wider than Goldberg(not just bulk either, he’s RIPPED as well.) *****

I think if they were to do a movie on Vegeta’s saga a lot is gonna be changed. I mean all they do in the anime is stay on some island [I think] and take turns fighting… and waiting for the hero to arrive. I say go for a risk, may sound crazy but go straight to Frieza… and somehow introduce the other characters we all love.

I actually had no idea that Justin Chatwin had an interview recently and has been talking about how the next one will be. (is it anywhere online? If so can you link me? )
The thought of them starting up to DBZ in the next one makes my inner fanboy leap in joy. And man…looking on your choices for who would be Nappa..I REMEMBER that guy from that movie, only I saw “The Protector” in its original subtitled glory..never saw it dubbed. Of course when I saw it, it was ages ago and I actually thought “That is a total Nappa right there”. Good choice on figuring who would be Nappa.
I must say….if this sequel is DBZ..they have to, NO MAYBES, they HAVE to have Vegeta’s live action actor to say the 9000 line. 😀 It’s a must, lol.
